Aussie Open 2017 Quick Links
The 2017 disc golf season starts this week here in Australia! As always, we have a team of media professionals on site to bring you close to the action from the comfort of your home or place of work.
Naturally the best way to follow the action is to come see it for yourself. If, however, you’re unable to make the trip to Mundaring DiscGolfPark, there’s plenty of ways you can follow the event online.
Just like during the 2016 season, we’ve teamed up with The SpinTV media crew to bring the lead card play-by-play action from all 4 rounds of the event. The SpinTV crew is joined by the amazing Jomez Productions video crew to make the course come alive in HD video.
Live Scoring & Metrix
We will be providing live scoring from each tournament round for the DGWT Open Division. The scores of each group will be posted online after holes 3, 6, 12 and 18. In addition to traditional scoring, we’re also collecting Disc Golf Metrix data for the DGWT Open Division players from all rounds. The Metrix stats will be accessible only to our registered website followers and we highly recommend everyone to create a free account to access the full DGWT online experience. Make sure not to miss the play-by-play instagram videos on the live scoring page – just click the little red arrows in the hole-by-hole view to watch!
As the 2017 Aussie Open is a PDGA Major event, we’re happy to to work together with the PDGA staff to provide round results for the FPO, MPM and MA1 divisions. The round results for all divisions can be found at pdga.com after the rounds.
Please note: The scoring page will be updated with round 1 groups before the round starts.
Play-by-Play Videos
The SpinTV in cooperation with Jomez Productions will be producing lead card* Play-by-Play videos from the 1st, 3rd and final round the event. These videos are set to be released at a fast pace, with at least one part of the coverage of each round coming out the next day. In addition to the Open Division play-by-play videos, we aim to get the final round of the FPO Division on tape here at the first PDGA Major of the year.
*(During first round we’ll cover the feature card)
Social Media
We will have our staff on the field doing active social media posting throughout the tournament week. Our main social media channels are Facebook and Instagram, so make sure to give us a follow! Since there will be no actual live broadcast available from the event, we’ll make sure to give the social media audience an extensive coverage of happenings on the field in the form of photos and videos. Just like at our 2016 events, many of these videos will also be integrated to the live scoring page, so you can see how some of the players wound up to their scores on select holes, almost in real time!
The Official hashtags for the 2017 Aussie Open are #DGWT, #AussieOpen, #AussieOpenDiscGolf and #DiscGolf. We encourage all players and followers to use these hashtags in their social media posts about the event.
In addition to the DGWT social media channels, the Aussie Open facebook page and the PDGA facebook & instagram accounts will be posting a lot about the event, so we recommend giving those a follow too.
DGWT Live Reports on Facebook
Join us live on facebook at around 4 PM Perth time on all tournament days for interviews and a live report of the action from each day by Avery Jenkins. Due to fluctuating connection on the Mundaring DiscGolfPark course, there will be no live video following the tournament action. Instead of following the groups, we’re aiming for a little more compressed live shows from the course after the action is done and putting our shots to quick turnaround of The SpinTV’s post production play-by-play coverage.
News Articles
Our media team is working together with the local Aussie Open crew and PDGA staff to bring media rich round wrap up articles after each round for you to recap to the action from. You’ll find round recaps after each tournament round, as well as emerging stories as they appear. We also recommend following PDGA.com, AussieOpen.info and UltiWorld for top notch online coverage of the Disc Golf World Tour.

We’re proud to have the highly talented Mr. Eino Ansio working behind the lens to capture the event. Eino’s previous work has been featured heavily at the European Open, European Masters, Konopiste Open and the USDGC.
